We have wrapped up the month of September and are starting off October full speed ahead! Check out this week’s edition of the Eagle Eye for a look at the schedule and upcoming events.
So much happens on and off our campus each week, we want you to have the opportunity to share in the successes and stories of our students and staff. Click here for an update on what God is doing in and through our DCS community.
Did You Know… on the first elementary chapel of each month, teachers will recognize select students from their class to receive 3 different character awards for the previous month. During chapel, those students will be recognized on stage and will receive a certificate. The 3 awards are:
- The David Award – This award is given to the students who demonstrate, by their actions, that they have a heart for God. They are the students who not only show an interest in spiritual truths, but they also do their best to apply those truths in their daily lives.
- The Solomon Award – This award is given to the students, who, like Solomon, apply their hearts to wisdom.
- The Paul Award – Each month will focus on a different Fruit of the Spirit. For example, the month of September will focus on Love. A student who best demonstrates this particular Fruit of the Spirit in their daily life at DCS will receive this award.
Lost and Found Overflows! Only a month into school and our lost and found is already maxed out! If your child is missing anything, please take time to come look in our lost and found area just inside the main school entrance in the lower hallway. Additionally, please label your child’s things with their first and last name. This includes, jackets, water bottles, lunch boxes, binders, etc. When the lost and found becomes too full, we will display items on tables in the courtyard for a day or two. Any unclaimed items will be bagged up and given to a local charity.
Last year, we had a wonderful lost and found parent coordinator. If you are looking for a way to volunteer at DCS, would you consider being this year’s lost and found parent coordinator? If interested, please contact the school office for details.
The annual DCC/DCS Harvest Festival is coming up on Tuesday, October 31st, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. This indoor, carnival-style festival provides hundreds of kids in our community with a fun and safe alternative to Halloween's trick-or-treating. The Harvest Festival houses over thirty games and booths, distributes thousands of pieces of candy, and welcomes many children who will experience the love of Christ through volunteers' joy and service. It is our largest outreach to children in our community! So, plan to bring your whole family and enjoy a fun-filled night!
To put on such an event, we need...
(1) VOLUNTEERS to man the booths and food court. Volunteers will be showing God's love and grace to all those in attendance.
(2) DOOR PRIZES like gift certificates from small businesses to raffle off during the event.
(3) CANDY! You may donate bags of individually wrapped candy in the church foyer. Gently used toys can also be donated for the Toy Shoppe booth.
If you would like to contribute a small gift certificate from your business or would like to offer your services in manning a booth, please contact Zach and Rachel Davidson (503-290-9393). See you there!
