Welcome to the 1st edition of the 2024-2025 weekly Eagle Eye News! For those of you who are new to DCS, this is our primary form of school-wide communication each week. We have a lot of new things to share, so please keep reading and click any hyperlinks for more details on related topics.
For a look at the upcoming schedule, check out the Eagle Eye.
Secondary families are encouraged to attend Chromebook/laptop setup day on Tuesday, September 3, anytime between 10:30 am and 3:00 pm, allowing about 15 minutes for their appt. This will help ensure that any personal computers students intend to bring will log onto the school Wi-Fi and are ready for use before school starts. Priority for appointments will go to middle school students first, but high school students needing a bit of assistance will not be turned away. While an appointment is not necessary, by clicking the attached link and claiming an appointment time, we can best be prepared to assist you. We will NOT be using class time for personal student computer setup. If there are no appointments left, please email joann.harrison@dcs4you.org. Book an Appointment today!
Mark your calendars for Back-to-School Night on Tuesday, September 3rd. Visit both the DCS and Barton campuses including teacher classrooms between 5:00 and 6:30 PM. Join in the ice cream social at either campus starting at 5:30 PM. All new families should plan on attending the DCS 101 gathering at 6:30 PM in the DCS auditorium.
We are very excited to announce our partnership with My Hot Lunchbox and will be offering a hot lunch option 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday, & Friday) throughout the school year. We are working towards our first hot lunch delivery date of 9/23/24. Ordering will open two weeks before, on 9/9/24 and is available for both campuses. Click the links for details on How It Works, Program Introduction, Parent FAQs, and How to Create an Account.
Have you heard? DCS has purchased a bus to help with transportation needs between campuses. Administration has been working very hard to get the bus road ready and approved for school use. We are anticipating this service becoming available sometime in September, shortly after the start of the school year. More details to follow in the coming days.
DCS Administration has also been working to launch an After-School Care Program here at DCS Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. This program will offer activities and supervised care by a DCS staff member at a flat rate of $20 per day for the first student in the family, then $10 per day for each additional sibling.
With all these additions, we have several opportunities and needs for families to volunteer and/or serve.
Hot lunch distribution from 10:30 to12:30 Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
Office Aide to help with copying, laminating, grading, etc.
