November 1-6, 2021 Eagle Eye

Please check out this week's attached eagle eye for an overview of the week's schedule, including game times, a look at important upcoming dates, and ministry opportunities.

Varsity Soccer had a nail biter finish to their season during Saturday's championship game.  Going into double overtime and penalty kicks they walked away with a 4-3 win and the championship title!  In addition, congratulations go out to the following players for their league awards: Rylan Laboca (2nd Team All-League), Ian Gustafsson (2nd Team All-League and Goalie of the Year), Elijah Nikiforets (1st Team All-League), and Zach Nelson (1st Team All-League and Player of the Year)! Way to Go Team!

Varsity Volleyball had 2 great post-season wins last week advancing them to the top 8. Normally, they would be headed to the State Tournament at this stage, but due to changes stemming from COVID protocols, they will play their quarterfinals game on Tuesday night at home against Rogue Valley Adventist at 7:00 PM.  Winner advances to the final 4 and the State Tournament in Redmond on Friday.

Lost and Found Overflows - We have an ever growing pile of lost and found items and have run out of room for it all.  Everything from jackets and sweatshirts to lunch boxes and water bottles.  Please take a moment to stop on by and look for any items that belong to your family before they become Lost and Gone!  Lost and found is located just inside the school doors off the courtyard in the lower hallway.  Due to rainy weather in the forecast, we may not be able to put items out on a table in the courtyard.

Operation Christmas Child -  If you'd like to help kids around the world hear about Christ, please pray for Operation Christmas Child and consider sending in payment for shipping, our current greatest need. You can also continue to send in items for boxes - toys, hygiene items, or school supplies (no war-related items, liquids/gels, or food/candy) - until this Friday, November 5th!

Looking for Ways to Support Damascus Christian School?  Following are 3 tangible way you can support DCS.

Box Tops for Education

Download the Box Top for Education App onto your SmartPhone, select Damascus Christian School as your school to support, and simply Scan (take a photo within the App) of your receipt.  For the month of October, only 9 people supported the school through Box Tops.   This is an easy way to earn cash for the school.  Download the App today and start scanning your receipts!

AmazonSmile

When making a purchase on Amazon, log into AmazonSmile and select Damascus Christian Support Association as your charitable organization.  This will automatically donate 0.5% of your eligible purchases.  Another easy way to support the school!  Last quarter, we received $61.79 in donations simply through Amazon purchases.

Damascus Christian Support Association (DCSA) & Damascus Christian Educational Foundation (DCEF)

Damascus Christian Support Association (DCSA) is a booster club to fundraise for DCS extracurricular activities or projects.   On an expanded basis, the organization may also be eligible to apply for Grants that would further the mission of DCS.

Damascus Christian Educational Foundation (DCEF) is an avenue to give for tuition assistance for students to afford to attend DCS.

These are great opportunities for grandparents, estates, organizations, or others to donate in support of DCS!

Community Library Hours - Did you know our library held open community hours each week?  Every Tuesday and Thursday (with the exception of no-school days) from 3:30 - 4:30 parents, grandparents, neighbors and the greater Damascus community can come check out books at our DCS Library. Stop on by and get started on that reading list!

Parent/Teacher Conferences -  Elementary conferences will be by appointment during the week of November 8th.  Secondary conferences will be on November 10th (this is a change from the original date of November 12th), with team conferences by appointment from 3:30-5:30 PM and arena style conferences in the gym for all secondary parents from 5:30-8:00 PM.
