Campaigning, speeches and voting concluded this past week for the upcoming year’s student council representatives. A BIG thank you to the current school year’s student council for all their hard work and service to DCS and welcome to the new 2022-2023 representatives. They are McKenna Phifer (President), Abbey Atkins (Vice-President), Willy Davis (Treasurer), Caleb Yektiurip (Communications Coordinator), Chanel Wallis (Secretary), Elijah Sarkissian (Ministry Outreach), Elijah Argubright (Social Chairman), Bethany Holcomb (Senior Rep), Esther Davidson (Junior Rep), Abigail Huspek (Sophomore Rep), Leilani Hanna (Freshman Rep), and Micah Argubright (JH Rep).
We also want to congratulate our Junior High and High School track athletes for a strong finish in their district meets this last week. We had many athletes finishing top 8 and making the podium in their events. Here is a special shout out to all the top 3 junior high finishers and the high school athletes qualifying for the State Championships at Hayward Field later this week.
For Junior High, the girls 4x400 relay (Tay Balensifer, Ellie Christiansen, Leilani Hanna, Lucy McAllister) and Elijah Davidson in both Javelin and the 100-meter hurdles, crushed the competition taking 1st in each event. Taking 2nd were the following athletes/events: Elijah Davidson (200 meter), Zach Davis (Long Jump), Lainey Day (400 meter), Psalm Kirkland (High Jump and 100-meter hurdles), and Haavah Lorenzen (Javelin). The boys 4x400 relay (Gavin Anderson, Zach Davis, Cooper Day & Asa Kirkland) and Tirien Rasmussen in Discus all finished 3rd.
Our High School Girls dominated this last week winning the team competition by over 100 points! The following athletes will be moving on to compete this week at Hayward Field in Eugene for the OSAA State Championships. Elijah Argubright (Pole Vault), Abbey Atkins (800-meter, Pole Vault), Andrea Bogdan (100-meter, 200-meter, 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay), Carter Clear (800-meter), Alysha Colburn (Pole Vault, 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay), Sierra Hale (100-meter, 4x100 relay, Javelin, High Jump), Naomi Haring (400-meter), Ava Mai (100-meter, 300-meter hurdles, 4x100 relay, Long Jump), Ayla Pontius (200-meter, 400-meter, 4x400 relay, Pole Vault), Emily Powers (100-meter hurdles, 800-meter, 4x400 relay, Javelin), Laelie Rasmussen (Discus). Want to come cheer them on? Let the office know you will be missing those days of school to head to Eugene and support our DCS athletes!
Preschool story time this Friday, May 20th at 8:45 am (right after school drop off) or at 10:00 am in the friendship center. We will be reading a story and doing a fun project with your toddlers/preschoolers! We’ll also provide a snack and give you an opportunity to check out some books. Questions?
